About Primary Health Awareness Trust
Our Mission
Established in 1999 and gaining charitable status in 2007, the Primary Health Awareness Trust & Yensom (Let’s Hold Together) is dedicated to promoting health awareness among individuals of all ages. We believe in a holistic approach to health, encompassing the body, soul, and spirit. Our mission is to educate and empower individuals through primary health care initiatives, advice, and community programs.
Our Objectives
- Promote health awareness with the principle that “prevention is better than cure”.
- Educate on stress management and related diseases.
- Encourage healthy eating habits.
- Support children’s education.
- Maintain healthy social practices.
Our Activities
We achieve our objectives through various activities, including:
- Seminars and workshops.
- Individual and group discussions.
- Support sessions.
- Educational programs on African radio stations in the UK.
Our affiliated organization, Yensom – Let’s Hold It Together, offers support every Saturday at the Manor Park Methodist Church, Herbert Road, London 12, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Topics covered include stress management, healthy eating, family support, and health screenings.
Understanding Health Inequalities
It’s crucial to recognize that individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities often face disadvantages that can increase the risk of developing health problems. Social and economic inequalities, coupled with health stigma, contribute to these disparities. Different communities understand and talk about health in various ways, and in some, health problems are rarely recognized or discussed, leading to reduced engagement with healthcare services.
